Grippers - 2-Jaw
Long Stroke- Options
Information applies to models P-6950, P-7000, P-7100, P-7150 and P-7200, also known as Long-Stroke Grippers. This product cannot be sold outside of the United States.
The following options are available to optimize RAD's Long-Stroke Pneumatic Gripper for your particular environment or application:
Jaw Timing
1. SYNCHRONOUS - STANDARD
For applications requiring the movement of parts from a poorly defined position to a well defined position. Synchronized grippers use the double helix technology to implement the classic parallel gripper style. Synchronous Long-Stroke Grippers center parts to ±0.0010" (±0.025 mm).
2. NON-SYNCHRONOUS
For applications requiring the movement of parts from a well defined position to a poorly defined position. Non-synchronous grippers comply with the position of the part - they do not dictate a centerline but "honor" the existing centerline. Non-synchronous grippers are ideal for applications where the part is being withdrawn from a well-defined position (e.g. captured by a holding device like a chuck, nest or mold) in which the holding device determines the centerline of the part. If a synchronous gripper were used in this type of application it would dictate a centerline that would be different from the part's centerline by the error in the positioning system. Two different centerlines would result in the part being "racked" or "dinged" when it is removed from the holding device. Non-synchronous grippers prevent this problem.
3. SEQUENCED (available only on the P-7150 and P-7200)
For applications where a part is presented with reference to an edge or surface rather than the center of the part. Sequenced grippers close the first jaw to a final position (this references the surface or edge) and then close the second jaw in compliance with the other side of the part. In welding, riveting and other "surface sensitive" operations, the sequenced gripper will present the surface to the process regardless of the thickness of the material.
4. QUAD-PORTED (available only on the P-7150 and P-7200)
For applications when complete system control of each jaw is required. Quad-ported grippers enable each jaw to be independently ported both open and closed. Each jaw can be timed separately, run at different pressures, and operated at different speeds for the ultimate in control.
Seals
RAD offers different seal choices to optimize the Long-Stroke Pneumatic Gripper for your particular environment:

|---|---|---|---|
| Standard - Buna N | -40 to 180 (°F) |
-40 to 82 (°C) |
P-6950 P-7000 P-7100 P-7150 P-7200 |
| High Temp - Viton | -40 to 300 (°F) |
-40 to 149 (°C) |
P-6950 P-7000 P-7100 P-7150 P-7200 |

Proximity Sensors
Proximity sensors are available for all Long Stroke models. Mounting of sensors on models P-6950, P-7000 and P-7100 has been improved by including a standard slot in the gripper housing.
