To help you get the most benefit from your UltiBurr™ 630 Compliant Deburring Tool, RAD offers the following information:

  • To assure optimal spindle life, the compressed air used to power the UltiBurr™ 630 Compliant Deburring Tool must be clean and dry. Air filtered through at least a 5+ micron filter and a coalescing filter (to ensure oil extraction near the motor) is recommended (standard filters will not take out all contaminants such as oil, mist, water, or fine particles).
  • The UltiBurr™ 630 Compliant Deburring Tool requires two air lines - one to spin the cutting file and one to apply compliance force to the motor/spindle assembly. Air pressure must be maintained between 90 and 100 psi – lower will result in reduction in power – higher will damage the air motor. The higher the pressure of the control air, the stronger the compliance force, and therefore the material removal on the work piece.
  • In order to compensate for tolerances, the robot should be programmed so that the burr (spindle) of the UltiBurr™ 630 Compliant Deburring Tool is always deflected out of zero position while machining. The UltiBurr™ Compliant Deburring Tool should be used in "climb cutting" operation only.
  • The speed of the UltiBurr™ Compliant Deburring Tool does the cutting. Overcompensating the force to feed ratio will lower the life expectancy of the UltiBurr™.
  • If the burrs are very large the robot may need to be programmed to make two passes to achieve the result you desire – an initial pass with a low feed rate and high pressure on the problematic burr and a second pass to finish with all the other edges.
  • Material removal results depend on:
    • Size and shape of burr
    • Feed forward rate
    • Air pressure of compliance unit
    • Spindle speed
    • Cutter
  • Feed forward rate depends on:
    • Material
    • Burr shape
    • Shape of part
